ENRG Spotlight: Matt Anderson, Designated Broker in Charge for Texas

ENRG Realty welcomes Matt Anderson as our Designated Broker in Charge for Texas, based in Frisco, a fast-growing city just north of Dallas, and serving agents across the DFW area and the state.

Matt moved to Texas in 1994 and worked in the tech sector before his first home purchase pulled him toward real estate. He got licensed in 2002, went full time in 2004, and became a broker in 2012. Over twenty-four years, he has closed well over 1,500 deals and managed several national and local brokerages, helping a number of his own agents become brokers along the way. As he puts it, he loves the art of the deal and working the solution.

Why ENRG

"I thought the leadership and possibility for growth at the ground level was very exciting. The company has tons of potential, and with the right people, the sky's the limit."

His read on what Texas agents need is just as direct.

"Texas is a very challenging state. It's where every brokerage wants to be. However, many of them lose their way and don't focus on the agent's needs. Agents need to be client-focused. Brokerages need to be agent-focused. Once you follow this pattern, you have a win-win."

That agent-first philosophy runs through how he describes the job itself.

"As a broker, my agents are my clients. I treat them with respect and build them up."

"Agents need to be client-focused. Brokerages need to be agent-focused. Once you follow this pattern, you have a win-win."

Built in Texas

For Matt, working the Dallas–Fort Worth market well comes down to community and credibility.

"Frisco and the DFW is a strong growth area. Many people are not Texans, and showing them everything we have to offer is important. When people embrace the heat, it truly is a great area for families and professional growth. Having a strong knowledge of the cities in the DFW area and where the growth and values are will help agents win deals."

His own path into leadership started early. As a new licensee without a large sphere of influence, he joined ZipRealty for its lead flow and averaged 40 to 60 deals a year as a rookie, then became a supervisor over 10 to 12 agents. That experience is where he decided that managing while still producing was the path he wanted.

Off the Clock

Matt is a self-described foodie who knows every restaurant in the area, with strong opinions on where to go for BBQ or Thai. He travels often to see his three kids, now spread across Kansas, Michigan, and DC, and as a recent empty nester, he plans to get more involved in the community again. Over the years, that has included City of Frisco youth sports, his HOA, and TREC educational development and leadership council work.

His take on the region is simple: between the professional sports teams, shopping, and museums, if you can't find something to do in DFW, you are not trying. Otherwise, you will find him on his morning walks or working out.
