From Restaurants to Real Estate: A Diverse Journey
Like many agents, Gina's first transaction was unique and challenging. Her first listing involved a bridge loan, a financing option that disappeared for years but has recently made a comeback. Adding to the complexity, the property bordered a cemetery. "Everything seems easier from that point," she laughs, reflecting on how that complex first deal prepared her for everything that followed.
Community Leadership Through Service
Gina's commitment to her community extends far beyond real estate transactions. She co-founded the Aloha chapter of AREAA (Asian Real Estate Association of America) in 2009, driven by her experiences during the market downturn when predatory lending devastated many Filipino families in Maui.
"I could see that there was still a need for education and sustainable homeownership for everyone," Gina explains. "My passion [is] really to cofound the Aloha chapter here in Hawaii."
Her service continues as she prepares to serve as President of the Hawaii Association of Realtors in 2026, where she'll focus on implementing the association's strategic plan and supporting members through continued industry changes.
The Unique Hawaiian Market
Hawaii's real estate market is far from uniform, as Gina explains: "Each island is very different. It is not a statewide prospect by any means." From Oahu's strong military presence requiring expertise in veteran and military transitions, to Kauai's high-end luxury market, to Maui's mix of resort and local properties, each island demands specialized knowledge.
"You really need a local expert," Gina emphasizes. "You should really have an agent that practices on their island and knows it well."
Why ENRG Realty?
When asked what attracted her to ENRG Realty, Gina's response was immediate: "I could tell right away that their care for the agent was paramount." After running her own successful brokerage for over ten years, she recognized that joining ENRG would provide her agents with competitive advantages while maintaining the boutique, personalized service she values.
The combination of cutting-edge technology, including AI capabilities, with genuine care for agents created the perfect opportunity for growth.
Vision for Hawaii
As State Designated Broker for all of Hawaii, Gina sees tremendous potential: "I think Hawaii is missing the ENRG passion. I think it's missing some of the technology that ENRG can bring." Her goal is to show agents throughout the islands that there's another way: a model that combines the best of both corporate resources and independent, personalized service.
Life Beyond Real Estate
When she's not helping agents reach their potential or serving her community, Gina enjoys community theater with the Maui Coral Arts, where she acts and sings in productions for hundreds of audience members. She's also danced hula for over twenty years and finds her weekly therapy in the ocean.
"That's my once a week therapy. I get in the ocean," she shares, embodying the work-life balance that makes Hawaii so appealing.
Local Recommendations
For visitors to Hawaii, Gina enthusiastically recommends experiencing the unique treasures each island offers: the energy of Waikiki, the natural beauty of Kauai's canyon that "rivals the Grand Canyon," and Haleakala on Maui where "it's like you're on another planet." And for dining? Mama's Fish House on Maui remains her top choice, where fresh fish is identified by boat, captain, and catch location.
A Message of Opportunity
For agents considering a move to ENRG Realty, Gina's advice is simple: "Opportunities like this don't come along but once in a lifetime, and I would encourage them to take advantage of it."
With her combination of experience, community connections, and genuine passion for helping others succeed, Gina Duncan embodies everything ENRG Realty represents: boutique service, cutting-edge tools, and agents-first philosophy.
Welcome to the ENRG family, Gina! We're excited to see the amazing things you'll accomplish in the beautiful state of Hawaii.
